Art Club

Advisor: Erika Cook

Grade Levels: 3rd-5th

Lunch Recess – Once a week

Art Room Art Club embraces and supports our environment at Jefferson Elementary by giving our students the opportunity to use a variety of mediums, to imagine, plan, and create. Students have the opportunity to take their creations to a higher level. The mission of Art Club is to foster an awareness of the importance and presence of art and beauty in nature and the world around us by exploring, examining, imagining, designing, and constructing. What does this club offer? Art Club members gain a host of benefits. Students gain experience and sharpen life skills such as teamwork, problem solving, responsibility, and community involvement. Participation in this club could also be a springboard that sparks a student’s interest to pursue an art based career such as architecture, set design, photography, plastic surgery, book illustration, interior design, jewelry design, graphic arts, fashion, and many more.

Did you know - Involvement in the arts is associated with gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and verbal skills.

I am so excited to announce that this year our 1st-5th grade Jefferson students will have the opportunity to participate in choir! Elite Choir, for our 3rd-5th grade students, will meet Monday and Friday mornings. SOAR Choir will include 1st and 2nd graders that will join our Elite Choir on Friday mornings. (*Elite Choir members are automatically in SOAR choir.)

Also returning this year is our Xylophone Ensemble for 3rd-5th graders! Xylophone ensemble will meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Our Spring Musical is also open for 3rd-5th graders. Auditions will begin in January (more information to come!) and we will perform 1 evening performance and 1 school performance in March.

Our Jefferson music groups will have multiple performance opportunities both in and out of school. Parents/Guardians/Guests are welcome to attend all in-school performances!

Destination Imagination

Math Club

Advisor: Joe Bliss

Math Club is an opportunity to be challenged and to learn math that will help each of them in the future. Math Club is NOT easy math. We go quickly, and we will work on math that moves beyond most students' grade level. It's a wonderful opportunity for students to learn new skills. I'm looking forward to a fun year of math!

Our meetings will be weekly on Thursdays from 3:20 - 4 PM

Running Club

Safety Patrol

The school safety patrol is a volunteer group of 4th and 5th grade students. Their primary focus is helping other students safely cross the streets on the way to school. The official School safety Patrol program was organized in 1920 by the American Automobile Association. More than 50,000 schools in the United States and Canada have a safety patrol program. If you are interested in being a part of this group please see Miss Drane.
