Will you have a kindergartner starting their academic journey or will your child be joining our schools for the first time in the fall? Our online enrollment portal for the 2026-27 school year is now open.

It’s official! The first day of school for the 2026-27 school year will be September 1 for students in Grades 1-12 and September 3 for Kindergarteners! 

Richland School District is proud to recognize five educators who have recently earned National Board Certification, one of the highest professional distinctions in education. 

Richland School District is committed to supporting students and families who may be facing food insecurity. Families experiencing a loss or reduction of income, such as from the current federal government shutdown, may now qualify for free or reduced-price school meals, even if they haven’t been eligible before.

As Northwest United Protestant Church prepares to close its doors, its final act will leave an incredible legacy for local children. The church has established a $100,000 permanent endowment fund through 3 Rivers Community Foundation (3RCF) to support Jefferson Elementary students, which will provide essentials such as school supplies, clothing, pantry items, hygiene products, and extracurricular activities.

We are very excited to announce that Richland School District has partnered with FinalForms, an online forms and data management service.

Beginning next school year, families will be responsible for providing school supplies for their students. To help streamline the school supply process for families, we worked with staff to create grade level lists instead of individual classroom lists.

This school year we are using a new communication tool to reach parents and guardians. ParentSquare allows families to connect with teachers and school staff, receive weather delay and crisis notifications, view school events and securely receive important student documents.

We have more than 900 certificated staff, which includes teachers, school counselors, specialists, school psychologists, school nurses and so many more, work hard each day to support, engage and inspire students.

Nine Destination Imagination teams of RSD elementary students received top honors at the Regional Destination Imagination Tournament and will be moving on to compete at the state tournament on March 25.

COVID-19 led to a very unique year of Destination Imagination competition and RSD teams still did an impressive job demonstrating their creativity and problem-solving.

Through the fall of 2021 Richland School District will use a screening tool to help gauge where students are in their social-emotional learning and help them grow.

It's that time of year again—make sure you know as soon as our schools are on delay or canceled due to inclement winter weather.

Fifth-grader Isla Fowler is committed to making this the best year at school ever. Discover how she's reaching that goal.

Road construction on George Washington Way will affect vehicle and pedestrian traffic for the Early Learning Center, Jefferson and Sacajawea elementary schools and Hanford High School. Learn about designated pedestrian crossings, alternate routes and other steps students and families can take to stay safe and reduce delays.

Mr. O'Konek joined the district in 2013 and most recently served as assistant principal at Jason Lee Elementary. He is thrilled to become part of a school with such dedicated staff and families who have long put students first.
